Training provider overview

The Premier League is a limited company whose 20 shareholders are the most successful professional Football Clubs in England and Wales.

The Premier League has responsibility for administering the football played at Premier League clubs, including the football of young players. Each Premier League Club operates, for the purpose of youth development, a Football Academy licensed by the Premier League under standards specified by the Premier League in its Rules.

The Premier League's education function sits within the Youth Department of the Premier League. It is headed by the Director of Football Development and has the overall responsibility for all areas relating to player development in academies, from U9 to U21.

Each club can offer an apprenticeship to a select number of players based on their potential to become a professional player.
